“Leadership is not about titles or the corner office. It’s about the willingness to step up, put yourself out there, and lean into courage. The world is desperate for braver leaders. It’s time for all of us to step up.” -Brené Brown
We need braver leaders and more courageous cultures.
Daring leaders who are self-aware know how to have hard conversations, hold themselves and others accountable, build trust, lead with empathy and connection, reset quickly after disappointments and setbacks, and give and receive feedback – especially when it’s tough. Now, couldn’t we all use a little more of that?
Dare to Lead™ will help you move from being an armored leader to being a daring leader. Let’s meet in the arena.
What is Dare to Lead™?
Dare to Lead™ is the ultimate playbook for developing brave leaders and courageous cultures. Based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, the Dare to Lead™ program is an empirically based courage-building program based on four skill sets that are teachable, measurable, and observable. That’s right, courage isn’t an inherent quality that we either have or don’t have, but rather it is something we can develop in ourselves over time and with practice. This commitment to learning, unlearning, and practice requires brave work, tough conversations, and showing up with our whole hearts. The courage building skill sets are:
Rumbling with Vulnerability: Grow self-awareness and understand that we can’t get to courage without leaning into the discomfort of vulnerability - the emotion we feel during times of risk, uncertainty, and emotional exposure.
Living into Our Values: Know what we stand for and operationalize those beliefs into defined behaviors so we can hold ourselves accountable for living into who we say we are.
BRAVING Trust: Learn how to grow trust incrementally, over time, as an essential element for meaningful connection with self and others.
Learning to Rise: Build personal resilience as a way to reset after a failure, setback or disappointment.
What does Dare to Lead™ look like?
As a Certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitator, I focus on developing these courage-building skills through facilitated discussion, small group learning, individual reflection and one-on-one coaching - enriched by video teachings from Brené.
